After the weather-related cancellations of recent years, we have given a lot of thought to how the König Ludwig Lauf can be made more predictable, weather-independent, and sustainable in the future – without losing the unique experience for our participants.
The key concept of our realignment is: scalability.

From the Core to the Surroundings – A New Course Concept
From now on, we are working from the inside out. At the heart of our new concept is a compact 9-kilometer loop, which will be continuously extended depending on snow and weather conditions. With favorable conditions, the loop grows modularly, allowing us to react flexibly to any weather situation – while at the same time providing maximum planning security for organizers, athletes, and partners.
This new approach ensures that cancellations due to missing course segments will be a thing of the past.

Taking Climate Change Seriously – Responding Proactively
The effects of climate change are also noticeable in the Alps. We are not turning a blind eye to this – instead, we are taking proactive steps: with a flexible course design, sustainable planning, and technical as well as logistical measures that allow the race to take place even under challenging conditions.
Of course, we cannot guarantee that the event will take place, but we aim to safeguard the future of the König Ludwig Lauf and ensure the highest possible chance of execution – responsibly and with foresight.
